Looking back… what did you learn…

Here is an interesting thought I had the other night as I was sitting chattin with one of my friends. I was thinkin about how when we go through something, when something happens that we did not expect and it throws our life in a blender and decides to make mixed drinks, as we are in there the questions start to fire in our heads like a fireworks show on new years. Why is this happening? What in the hell is goin on? Why me? Why now? Why, why, why? Well we want to know then and sometimes even now and we do not realize what we have learn about ourselves until it has past. But while we are in the midst of the trial we think….There is nothing for me to learn or what could I possibly learn for this experience or any other experience that is happening. Well when I thought about this it reminded me of the movie The Karate Kid. Mr. Meiagee (dunno how to spell it) said he would teach Daniel Son how to do Karate, but instead he was waxing cars, painting houses, sanding floors and of course painting a fence that was in dire need of a fresh coat of paint. Besides getting some sore muscles he was able to learn how to defend himself, which is the most important part of it, although at the time he was not able to see that. Lets face it if we started out knowing what we are goin to learn would we want to learn it? If I found out I was going to learn how to program a computer I would probaly make excuses. When we think of Karate it is associate with awesome punches and spinning round house kicks! If Mr. Meiagee said to Daniel son, hey I am gonna teach you how to defend yourself he probaly wouldn’t want to do it. I mean come on…defense…teach me how to kick and punch! Daniel son probaly would have gotten frustrated and stormed off or though it was lame and decide he would go into landscaping. If he did that then he would have never learned about who he was and never gotten the chick. Sometimes we have to go through things without knowing what we are learning so we can learn it. See it. Accept it. Learn from it….one day at a time…..
